Oh boy oh boy! Let’s dive right into this hot and controversial topic!
Religion VS Spirituality
Let me begin by saying that I was raised a Southern Baptist PK (preachers kid) for those who may be wondering. I learned early on just how controversial the topic of religion was. I also learned how judgmental the people can be. Here is what I’ve noticed when it comes to religion. The desire to be right is greater than the desire to understand. Why is that?
If someone praises God/Jesus, Jehovah, Allah, The Universe, Buddha, The Wind, or the stars…how does that in anyway affect your personal relationship with whom you deem “Your Creator”? How does the woman worshipping Christ affect your relationship with the universe? Or how does the individual reciting the Quran affect your relationship with Jehovah or the next persons choice to not believe at all? Y’all see where I’m going right? I’ll answer for you, it doesn’t!
“Just because it doesn’t resonate with you, or you don’t understand doesn’t mean it’s orchestrated by Satan or its wrong.” ~ Jaz
Let me tell you what sparked this post. I was scrolling through social media and came across a post of a well known individual speaking about who she thanks for her blessings while speaking to those who thank the universe for theirs. Going on about how it ain’t the universe who blesses…blah blah blah.
I noticed a bit of a debate in the comments from those who identify with “the universe” concept asking the question, why can’t you just respect other people’s choices? I began to think about the topic of Religion VS Spirituality. I also began to think about why individuals feel the need to spew their truth from a superior standpoint. I was disappointed and reminded of why my thinking began to evolve as I got older.
As humans we tend to dismiss, mock, or denounce what we don’t understand. I implore you, if you’re one of those people, to exercise compassion towards those who think differently from you even when you don’t agree.
Until next time…🦋
