It Ain’t Over Yet!

There are 56 days left in 2020. How sobering is that?

How y’all feeling?

I’ve been seeing a lot of, “I’ll try again in 2021”, but I’m here to tell you that it ain’t over yet! I’ll be the first to admit that 2020 has whooped my natural black ass. I even abandoned my goals. Last night while conversing with my son, he said, “mom, if I told someone everything that has happened to us, they wouldn’t believe me. It feels like a movie”.

Since the passing of my father, I’ve done a lot of thinking, and have experienced several life altering changes. Some voluntary, and some involuntary. Something recently happened to me that shook me for a moment, but in my experience, I’ve learned that there is a blessing, and a lesson in everything!

Remember me talking about abandoning my goals? Let me tell you how done I was, I pulled them down (had them hanging on the wall), tore them up and threw them away. I had a real life big girl tantrum. That’s where I was mentally, however, back to the life altering changes AND perspective. I had to give myself a pep talk. I had to leave the pity party for one because y’all, I was heavy on the woe is me energy. I had to remind myself that it ain’t over! So the other day, I created a new set of goals for the remainder of 2020, because in my best Tabitha Brown voice, “that’s my business!”

Before I talk about specific goals, I want to address one of my recent life altering experiences because I believe it may help someone. I’ve shared my continuous battle with depression and anxiety. My decision to see a black female therapist, and most recently my decision to include medication as part of my healing. If 2020 has taught me one thing, it’s definitely taught me that life is short and should be lived to the fullest! With that being said, I needed a little extra help to get there, and I make no apologies! If you’re feeling stuck, alone or like you need additional help, do what’s best for you! Whatever that looks like!

Now let’s get into these goals! Here are a few on my list:

  • Intentional self care which includes naps

  • More family time (things like skating in an empty parking lot just because we can)

  • Consistency with my blogging/vlogging because it’s my calling.

  • Investing in my business/brand

  • Date nights (keep the fire burning)

These are just a few!

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, 2020 has been heavy on the lessons! God had to shift some things and take some things to get my attention! He got it lol.

If you’re feeling discouraged, please know that you’re not alone. You still have 56 days left in this year to finish some things. To start new things. To use that PTO. To shoot your shot. To mend that relationship. To learn something new.

Revisit those goals you committed to at the beginning of the year because, it ain’t over yet! You got this!

Until next time...🦋
